Three Rivers FCU History

On Valentines Day in 1935, the International Harvester Company Fort Wayne Works Employees Federal Credit Union was organized; employing 3 individuals and housed in the International Harvester Company. By June 1965, the credit union was among the largest in the state of Indiana.

The early 1980's brought a reduced labor force to International Harvester Company, prompting the credit union to adopt the Three Rivers Federal Credit Union name in 1982 and opening membership eligibility to a greater portion of the community. In 1986, the credit union expanded into the Maplewood Shopping Center and St Marys Ohio. The Illinois Road branch and the credit union's first Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) were added in 1989.

In the early 1990's, the credit union opened a new corporate office on Northland Boulevard and branches in Bluffton, Van Wert (Ohio) and Kendallville. In April 1999, Three Rivers expanded branch operations into several area Scott's Food and Pharmacy stores. The new branches were the first in-store credit unions in the state of Indiana.

On May 10, 2004, Three Rivers opened the Waynedale branch, becoming the19th branch of the credit union. The grand opening was celebrated in conjunction with the announcement that the National Credit Union Administration had granted a community charter expansion to Three Rivers FCU. The designation allows Three Rivers to offer membership to anyone who lives or works in the Indiana counties of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells or Whitley.

Today, Three Rivers FCU represents more than 70,000 business and individual members while operating 19 branches in Indiana and Northwest Ohio. The credit union provides a full line of financial services ranging from checking and savings accounts, to mortgages, business services, investment services, trusts and more.

In addition, Three Rivers members enjoy nationwide branch access to thousands of affiliated credit union branches through a Shared Branch Network and no-surcharge use at more than 30,000 ATMs through cooperative ATM networks.
