Using
Your TRFCU VISA Check/Debit Card
a
Resource from Three Rivers FCU
|
A very simple solution is cutting down on extra trips to "foreign"ATM machines. Any machine that is not owned by Three Rivers Federal Credit Union is considered a foreign ATM. For each of these transactions, Three Rivers deducts a $1 fee*. The bank that actually owns the machine usually charges a fee as well. This could be a savings of up to $3.50 for each time you avoid these extra trips: $1 from us and $2.50 from the other bank. Another way to avoid spending money on unnecessary fees is by selecting "Credit"instead of "Debit" when making purchases. (To make purchases this way, be sure the merchant accepts a Visa card.) The basic understanding is this: when selecting "Debit", the transaction comes through as being a foreign ATM withdraw and you will be charged the $1 transaction fee. But, if "Credit"is selected, the transaction comes through as if you wrote a check and no fees are assessed. Purchases made with a Visa Check Card do not have finance charges since the money comes directly out of your sharedraft/checking account. For those times when you would like a little cash back, select "Debit"when making your purchases and let the cashier know the amount you would like returned. These transactions will be run as if you withdrew the money from a foreign ATM and you will be charged $1 from Three Rivers. To avoid that fee, you could make your purchase as a Credit, then find the nearest Three Rivers ATM and withdraw your cash. These are just a few simple solutions to saving you money with an already convenient service.
