We're Celebrating Our 85th Anniversary in 2020!

It’s hard to believe we’ll be celebrating our 85th Anniversary on Friday, February 14 this year! We opened our doors back in 1935 as International Harvester Company Fort Wayne Works Employees Federal Credit Union and were located in the International Harvester Company offices located at Pontiac Street and Bueter Road. We had $250 total in assets and employed just three individuals!

How We've Grown

Fast forward to 2020, and we’ve grown our branch network to 16 locations across seven counties, exceeded $1B in assets, employ nearly 350 individuals, and maintain over 80,000 members. We continue to grow in every way — in products and services, branches, community support, and, as announced in 2019, our intent to acquire West End Bank this year!

What Makes Us Different

Over the decades, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to our members and our community. We’re founded on the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and our own unique mission is “helping people understand money matters every day.” We strive to have meaningful conversations that inspire our members to develop a strategy to achieve their financial dreams, and we offer ongoing support and resources along the way.

We know there’s no cookie-cutter solution to an individual’s financial needs, so we’re constantly working to grow our line of carefully crafted solutions to fit a variety of financial situations and lifestyles. We’ll always offer the banking products and services you expect from a financial institution, but more importantly, we go beyond banking by tailoring those options to you, and supplementing them with a team of people who care about your success – financial and otherwise.

Keeping Up With the Times

As times change and technology progresses, we put a lot of focus on our offerings – ensuring our members have access to top-of-the-line products, like online access and  mobile banking, consistently enhancing the features and security as technology advances. In more recent years, we’ve added the ability for members to manage their credit and debit cards with Card Valet, updated our line of credit and debit cards to feature a sleek new design with enhanced EMV-chip security, added the option of Mobile Wallets (Apple®, Google®, and Samsung Pay®), and updated our entire fleet of ATMs (which now accept cash and check deposits)!

We love seeing you in our branches and drive-thrus, but know that managing your money on-the-go is a totally necessary part of banking. While our technology offerings are one way to go about it, we’re also a part of a nationwide shared branching and shared ATM network. This means that if you’re away from home and need to take care of some banking in-person, you can stop into a shared branch and do exactly what you would at 3Rivers, free of charge. And the same goes for ATMs in the shared network!

Always Investing in Our Community

While we’ve always been dedicated to giving back to our community, our growth as a company has allowed us to increase these efforts greatly, especially in the past decade. In 2015, we established the 3Rivers Credit Union Foundation, which, to-date, has granted over $8.5M over 175 local non-profits. In addition, we sponsor several community-focused events and fundraisers throughout the year. While we know monetary donations can go a long way in our community, we strongly believe in working alongside those who put on these events, and you’ll often see our team members helping to plan, set-up, tear-down, and take part in the activities we support. We also encourage our employees to volunteer throughout the year by offering two paid volunteer days annually, in addition to our all-employee volunteer day, which usually falls on Presidents Day or Columbus Day.

How We've Stayed the Same

Though we continue to grow (physically and in numbers) and our technology continues to advance year over year, one thing remains constant: our desire to provide a one-of-a-kind banking experience that puts our members first. Above all else, our number one concern is you and your financial wellness. Nothing can replace a conversation with a person who cares, and despite decades’ worth of changes to our branding, technologies, and other features, you can always count on us to care.

We’re so grateful for our employees, our members, and our community partners. Thank you for joining us on this journey and becoming a part of our story (and for letting us be a part of yours), whether you’ve been with us for all 85 years or are brand new to 3Rivers. We appreciate you!
